Postmortem: Patricio Blasetti

Howdy! I'm Patricio Blasetti.

I'm the Game Designer, I didn't have a specific role to play. I focused on programming NPCs, finding art, designing menus, choosing music, creating a few levels, etc.

We only had 4 weeks to make the game, our team had the idea of making a base on fishing trash. We started brainstorming about where we would make the game, what the objective would be, and who our character would be. I originally thought I would do around 20 or 25 hours. I did around 40 hours.

Blueprints

To create the crab, I had to work from scratch. I added the shell, created animation blueprints, an interactable sphere to trigger mission dialogue, a routine for walking around the map, speed, and added areas to navigate.

Create a widget blueprint for a paused in-game menu. When you resume or exit the level, it has special effects such as water splash sounds or the fishing rod's riffle.

I worked on creating a different map based on our map but made to be a 3D menu at the beginning of the game.

I also created a logo to be the main menu logo. I grab our topic and some images to make a look cool

3D Models

When choosing 3D models, you look for animals that are visually appealing. We found this friendly looking mouse aviator from the internet. The rig was destroyed, so I rebuilt the skeleton base with Maximo and added a skeleton to the tail. Elian was in charge of repairing the defects caused by the weight of the skin on the tail. The crab was found by Bodie and added to the project.

To animate the crab's shell, I added the same animations as the crab to the shell mesh. I added it because it was separate from its Crab mesh.

Animations

The crab came with its animations, so all I had to do was create an animation blueprint and Blend Space 1D to create an animation sequence.

For the mouse, I needed to search for animations in Mixamo and add them one by one, also including an animation blueprint and Blend Space 1D with a sequence of Idle, Walking, Running, Jumping, and Falling.

Music

To choose the music, look for themes related to fishing, the beach, and trash.

The level's song is copyright-free and was part of a children social media in Argentina. Mundo Gaturro

The second song on the menu is a royalty-free song found on YouTube.
